Speaking of Skyfall, perhaps one of biggest events of October would be Felix Baumgartner's jump from the heavens towards Earth. How he ever managed to convince himself to rocket upwards into space and then proceed to plummet down into the earth's atmosphere is utterly perplexing, and naturally, incomparably awe-inspiring. As thrilling, globally acclaimed and novel as the experience was, and despite other claims across the internet, I still find his choice of words to mark the occasion perfectly suitable: 'Aaaaaaaaaaaah!' However, considering that he crossed the speed of sound, it's probable he didn't hear a thing!
In other news, Apple is predicted to release it's iPad Mini this week, which should be interesting. Considering that Steve Jobs resolutely stood against tablets the size of the Galaxy Note 2, Apple will certainly have to think hard about how they intend to pitch their new product. And finally, after what seems like decades, Microsoft has re-entered the realm of technology with Windows 8, which to be honest, looks refreshingly appealing with it's tiled interface and colourful menus. The only problem I could think of was the awkwardness of manoeuvring through the new operating system using existing hardware, like traditional mice, but the new Wedge keyboard and mouse look promising.
Students from Paris are here, on the second part of the French exchange program at my school, and it's great to finally meet all the people I've heard so much about! Talking to my new amis has shown me just how different commonplace events can be in the eyes of another. It's fascinating. And at the same time, slightly scary.
I recently added a whole new set of songs to my favourite playlists, including new types of genres, like songs by Train. Change in temperament? Change in outlook towards life? Or perhaps the most likely - a change in the restrictions placed to determine the acceptability of songs to listen to. Until I find the courage to blog again, cheerio, or as my new French friends in school might say, aurevoir!
